A resurfacing laser is a serious investment for a practice. Most buy one and build their recommendations around it. That is not dishonesty, it is arithmetic, but it does mean the advice you get somewhere else is shaped by what sits in their treatment room.
We run four resurfacing platforms, and the TriBrid is the most capable of them. It is also, deliberately, not what we recommend to everybody.
Owning the full range is what lets us tell you when you do not need the top of it.

The TriBrid runs three independently controlled wavelengths through a single handpiece. It is the first laser to do so, and the significance is that each one works at a different depth.
The 2940 nm wavelength is ablative and works at the surface, tunable from 20 to 150 microns, refining texture and clearing visible imperfections. The 1927 nm wavelength is non-ablative and targets superficial pigment, restoring clarity and brightness. This is the wavelength MOXI uses. The 1470 nm wavelength reaches 300 to 700 microns into the dermis, stimulating collagen and elastin remodelling for tone and scarring.
Sciton’s own description is that the TriBrid merges HALO, MOXI, and Erbium resurfacing into one treatment. That is the honest way to understand it. It contains what our other lasers do rather than being a different kind of thing entirely.

This is the part most practices leave out, so we will say it plainly. More wavelengths reach more layers. They also cost more downtime. There is no sense buying downtime you do not need.
As Dr. Dana puts it, the TriBrid can be too much if all you need is MOXI.
One non-ablative wavelength at the surface. Pigment, tone, and brightness with the least downtime we offer. If that describes your concern, this is the treatment you should be having.

The TriBrid is performed by a licensed provider who sets each wavelength independently based on your skin type, your concerns, and the recovery time you can take. Results vary between individuals. At your consultation you get an honest assessment, including whether a lighter treatment would achieve what you are after.

We assess your skin, identify every concern present, and talk through how much recovery you can take. This is where we decide honestly whether you need all three wavelengths or fewer.
Numbing cream goes on 30 to 60 minutes beforehand and is given full time to work. Some skin types benefit from a few weeks of preparation, and certain medications and recent sun need managing first.
Each wavelength is set independently for your skin. Dynamic Thermal Optimization adjusts energy in real time to your skin temperature, and optical tracking keeps coverage even. Typically 30 to 60 minutes.
This is the deepest treatment in our range and recovery reflects that. Expect around a week of visible healing. Brightness comes first, then collagen remodelling continues improving firmness and scarring for months.

The TriBrid is the largest single investment in our resurfacing range, and that reflects what it does in one appointment. It is priced per session and by area treated.
Worth weighing properly rather than by sticker price. A lighter laser costs less per visit but often needs several visits to approach a comparable result, and each of those visits carries its own recovery. For the right candidate the TriBrid works out comparably and takes considerably less of your year.
For the wrong candidate it is simply more than they needed. That is the judgement the consultation exists to make. You get a written plan naming the treatment, the expected downtime, and the full cost before you commit to anything.
A calm, private space in Lake Nona, not a clinic that feels like a waiting room. You will be looked after by the same small team each visit.
Possibly not, and we would rather establish that before you book than after. The TriBrid earns its place when several concerns are present at once, pigment and texture and scarring and laxity together, and you would prefer one appointment to a series. If your concern is a single one of those, a lighter laser will very likely handle it with less recovery and less cost. We will tell you which situation you are in.
Around a week of visible healing, and you should plan your calendar around it rather than hope. Redness and warmth first, then a bronzed sandpaper texture forms as treated tissue works to the surface and sheds. This is the deepest treatment in our range and the recovery is proportionate. If a week is impossible for you, that is a legitimate reason to choose a lighter laser instead.
Halo runs two wavelengths, 1470 nm and 2940 nm. The TriBrid runs three, adding 1927 nm for superficial pigment, and controls each one independently. So the TriBrid does everything Halo does and adds pigment work at the surface. The practical difference is that the TriBrid can treat every layer in one session where Halo may leave the pigment component partly unaddressed. It also asks for more recovery.
A fair question, and the answer is downtime and cost. The TriBrid contains MOXI’s wavelength, but you cannot access it without also taking the ablative work and the deeper penetration, which means a week of recovery and a considerably larger investment. If pigment and brightness are all you want, MOXI gives you that in a couple of days for far less. Buying the TriBrid for a MOXI-sized problem means paying for capability you will not use.
You will feel it. Numbing cream goes on 30 to 60 minutes beforehand and is given proper time to work. During treatment expect heat and prickling, more noticeable than with our lighter lasers because more is happening. The handpiece has integrated air cooling. Afterwards the skin feels like a hot sunburn for several hours. It is manageable, and the session is typically 30 to 60 minutes.
Frequently one. That is a large part of the argument for it. Where a lighter laser might need four or more sessions to approach a comparable result, the TriBrid is often a single appointment. Some people with significant scarring or extensive damage benefit from a second, but one is a realistic expectation for most candidates.
It can be, with correctly selected settings, and independent control of each wavelength genuinely helps here because the parameters can be tailored rather than applied as a package. That said, this is the most aggressive treatment we offer and deeper skin tones carry more risk of pigment change with aggressive resurfacing. For some skin types we will recommend a gentler platform instead. Your skin type is assessed before anything is booked.
This is the treatment where we are most cautious about melasma. Melasma is heat-sensitive and can rebound and return worse after aggressive resurfacing, and the TriBrid is our most aggressive option. In most melasma cases we would steer you toward gentler approaches, topical management, and strict sun protection first. We will not treat melasma with this laser just because you asked for it.
